How to Define an Energy Storage Project Requirement
A useful energy storage inquiry starts with the application, not the battery model. Before comparing products, define what the system needs to accomplish and what constraints it must operate within.
Start with the use case
Clarify whether the project is for solar self-consumption, peak shaving, backup power, off-grid operation, microgrid support, EV charging support or another application.
Define power and energy separately
Power in kW describes how much the system must charge or discharge at one time. Energy in kWh describes how long that power must be sustained. Both are required for meaningful sizing.
Add project constraints
Voltage, grid conditions, solar capacity, installation environment, communications, certification requirements, quantity and target delivery schedule all affect the final product path.
Providing these items early reduces unnecessary back-and-forth and makes technical comparison more useful.
